Benefits of a Back Stretcher for Massage Therapy

Have you ever heard of a “Back Stretcher”? Yes, I have too, but had never actually used one! This is one of the best little known secrets, for massage therapists and people looking for a tool to help decompress their bodies (backs in general).

These back stretchers really do a good job in preparation for a massage. After a traditional massage the ‘hand’ of the Back Scratcher should be applied firmly but gently to the whole of the back area. After this, the rollers should be employed over the same area and the process repeated if desired. These actions complete a good massage leaving the recipient with a great sensation.

These back stretchers really do help in a traditional massage. The best ones to compliment a massage are made of bamboo and have either single or twin rollers. These items can last a lifetime and beyond and are incredibly hard wearing.

The first known Back Scratchers were carved from whale teeth and used by the Inuit. Over the centuries Back Scratchers have been around in one form or another and used for a variety of reasons; retrieving items out of reach, used as a rake on the hair of 18th and 19th Century ladies and even used in training rituals in some tribal cultures. However, these days there are no doubt that these items can be a marvelous aid to a good massage and I would encourage everyone to join the trend in owning one of these inexpensive items and buy a Back Scratcher.
