Massage Therapist and their Hands, their Power Tool
I was speaking with a therapist yesterday and she was saying that her hands were sore and it ddawned on me, “Therapists use their hands all the time! It’s their means to their bread and butter! Jeez, I type on a keyboard a lot and my hands get tired. But if I actually had to knead and press all day long on bodies, I can’t image how sore and tired they would be!” So, I decided to ask other massage therapists what they do to help the effetcs of soreness, arthritis, carputunnel, etc. I received a variety of remedies that I feel like I should share with my massage therapist blog readers.
1. The most obvious, a hand massage. Try to get a co-worker or friend to do this for you! It’s not the same giving yourself a hand massage!
2. Ice
3. Biofreeze (love this stuff!)
4. Orange juice with a tablespoon of cod liver oil. Cod oil has been known to be a natural remedy for arthritis. Orange juice to mask the taste. Drink up~!
5. Essential oils like Lavender to soothe pain and Pepperment to increase circulation. Also, other herbally infused oils to massage the soreness out of your hands. Goldenrod and Yarrow I’ve been told are amazing! Pretty much relieves muscle soreness instantly anywhere on the body.
6. Magnets. Yes, I said that. Magnets. This one, I can’t really explain, so maybe you can help me. Why magnets?
7. Parafin baths
What is YOUR remedy? Please give me feedback!
Have a relaxed day!
